Comment

Earlier this year we posted Royal Marriages following reports in the media on the possible marriage arrangements for the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Ms Markle. In view of the proposed timing of spring 2018, it would be unusual if the planning of such a high-profile event were not at an advanced stage. However, further details are not yet available and it would be premature to speculate further.

Update

Writing for The Tablet, Ruth Gledhill reported that Meghan Markle is to be baptised and confirmed into the Church of England before she marries Prince Harry in May next year. At a briefing on Tuesday afternoon (28 November)  Kensington Palace informed Royal correspondents that that Miss Markle is a Protestant but had not previously been baptised or confirmed; additionally, she will seek to become a British citizen.

The couple will wed at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, where the Prince of Wales had a service of prayer and dedication after he married the Duchess of Cornwall at Windsor Guildhall in 2005. The Chapel was also the venue for the wedding of Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly  in 2008.

  1. Slightly puzzled by the statement that the Prince had informed the Queen as under the relevant Succession to the Crown Act he has to actually ask her permission.

      • … and after Prince William and Kate’s next child is born, Prince Andrew will no longer be in the “top six”, so he could remarry without his mother’s permission!
