“Prevent” guidance ruled partially defective

On Friday, in R (Butt) v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2019] EWCA Civ 256, the Court of Appeal ruled that the Government’s Prevent duty guidance to universities is unlawful in part and must be rewritten, on the grounds that, as drafted, it violates freedom of speech.
