On 8 April, the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government [“MHCLG”] and the Minister for Faith, Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth, announced the Government’s conclusions following the review of crematoria provision and facilities. Cremations have become more and more common: in 2017 there were 467,748 cremations, representing just over three-quarters of all deaths, and each crematorium had an average of 1,607 cremations.
