Death of HM Queen Elizabeth II: Parliamentary business

The Parliamentary schedule has been updated following the death of Her Majesty yesterday afternoon.

  • Today, the House of Commons and House of Lords will sit between 12 noon and 10 pm for Tributes to Her late Majesty.
  • Tomorrow, Saturday, both Houses will sit from 2 pm to 10 pm for tributes and for senior MPs to take the oath to King Charles III.

All other business is then expected to be postponed for 10 days.

  1. Thank you for the links. Two comments I particularly noted:
Statement from the Speaker of the House of Commons, The Rt Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle:
“… especially at Christmas, with her wise words and reflective annual message.”
Statement from the Lord Speaker, The Rt Hon. Lord McFall of Alcluith:
“… deep sense of faith …”
Then Songs of Praise on BBC2 and comments by Mark Greene about the Queen’s personal faith. Not recognising the name Greene, I searched the web and found that earlier this year for the Jubilee he had written “The Queen’s Way”. He looks in depth at what the Queen herself had said about her faith and analyses her speeches and Christmas messages. Her Majesty’s deep personal faith clearly comes through.
