Orders for the prorogation of Parliament “no earlier than Monday 9th September and no later than Thursday 12th September 2019” have been approved at a Privy Council meeting held by HM the Queen at Balmoral and attended by Jacob Rees-Mogg (Lord President and Leader of the House) and Mark Spencer (Government Chief Whip).
At the same time, according to a BBC report, the group of more than 70 pro-Remain parliamentarians headed by the SNP’s Joanna Cherry QC and Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson has lodged a fast-track motion at the Court of Session in Edinburgh for an interim interdict to prevent Parliament from being prorogued until their case has had a full hearing on 6 September.
But 6 September is a Friday: what happens if the proceedings in the Court of Session are not completed in a single day?
