The final four nominations of senior clergy by Her Late Majesty The Queen, as Supreme Governor of the Church of England have now been announced. Future nominations will be approved by King Charles III.
Bishop of Liverpool
On 18 October 2022, the Prime Minister’s Office announced the approval of the nomination of The Right Reverend Dr John Perumbalath, Area Bishop of Bradwell, for election as Bishop of Liverpool. The CNC meetings for the appointment were held on 16 May 2022 and 21/22 June 2022, and it had been anticipated that it would be announced on Friday 9 September.
Bishop of Newcastle
The CNC Meetings for the appointment of the Bishop of Newcastle were held on 7 June and 18/19 July 2022, and on 20 October 2022, it was announced that Her Late Majesty The Queen approved the nomination of The Right Reverend Dr Helen-Ann Hartley, Suffragan Bishop of Ripon, for election as Bishop of Newcastle.
Provincial Episcopal Visitor
On 12 October, Downing Street announced the approval of the nomination of The Reverend Canon Stephen Race to the Suffragan See of Beverley, in the Diocese of York, in succession to The Right Reverend Glyn Webster following his retirement in January 2022. Canterbury Cathedral
On 10 October, Canterbury Cathedral announced that Her Late Majesty The Queen approved the nomination of The Very Reverend Dr David Monteith, Dean of Leicester, for election as Dean of Canterbury.
