On 25 November, the Governing Body of the Church in Wales agreed time-limited constitutional changes that would allow an interim Bishop to be appointed to the Diocese of Bangor. However, on 2 February 2026, the Archbishop of Wales, the Most Rev Cherry Vann, posted an update on the proposals for an Interim Bishop of Bangor. This indicated that the Church would not be proceeding with the appointment of an interim bishop, and that the Archbishop intended to ask the Governing Body’s Standing Committee to recommence the electoral college process.
The Governing Body of the Church in Wales is meeting at Venue Cymru, Llandudno, on April 15 and 16. Today, 15 April 2026, the following notice was issued.
