Communications in the Anglican Communion. The leaders of 36 of the Anglican Communion’s 40 member churches gather in the Middle East for what has been described as “a very strategic meeting.” The chief pastors of the Communion – the senior archbishops, moderators and presiding bishops of the Anglican provinces – will meet from Monday 13 January to Wednesday 15 January in formal session. In view of the importance of the forthcoming Lambeth Conference, changes were announced this week via the Anglican Communion News Service (ACNS) in the way the Anglican Communion communicates. Anglican Communion – developments in Rwanda. The Most Rev Dr Laurent Mbanda, Archbishop of Rwanda said: “Some want us to accept that it is essential to being Anglican that you are recognised by Canterbury, but we find our identity first and foremost through our Biblical and Anglican doctrinal inheritance in Christ…we do need to ensure that we have global Anglican Communion structures which are fit for purpose …“. Consultation on membership of the Crown Nominations Commission for future Archbishops of Canterbury. On 14 January 2022, the Archbishops’ Council launched a consultation on a proposal to change the make-up of the body which nominates future Archbishops of Canterbury. (16 January 2022).

Archbishops’ Guidelines on “Choosing Bishops”. On 7 July, the Church of England published the catchily-titled  Archbishops’ Guidelines on the implementation of “Choosing Bishops – the Equality Act 2010 (Revised)” (GS Misc 1044), (produced by  the Archbishops’ Secretary for Appointments and dated July 2017) which set out the processes for the implementation of the Legal Office note “Choosing Bishops – the Equality Act 2010 (Revised)” (“the Note”) which is attached to GS Misc 1044. Missionary bishop’s PTO withdrawn. On 1 July, the Anglican Mission in England (AiME) published a Press Release stating that Canon Andy Lines had been consecrated as a Missionary Bishop; on 28 July Christian Today reported that the Diocese of Southwark had signalled its opposition by not renewing his permission to officiate.
